First Anniversary: WordPress is such a breath of fresh air, an easy way to learn about website building, and consistently making editing choices and updating easier.
WordPress First Anniversary
I’ve been on WordPress for about a year
I’m so pleased that I’m here
As you know I was on Squarespace before
Drag and drop was the core
Promised easy set up and publish for me
No despair, but for me
That had problems I didn’t see
I tried it desperately, taking time to edit endlessly
All set up and saved
Damn I forgot a tiny bit, need to change and save
Oh, that didn’t work for me
I added my info but then everything
jumped about like a flea
I thought it would be so easy joining this throng
I couldn’t have been more wrong
After a short while I found it wasn’t for me
I decided to wander over to WordPress
With which I had a little learning history
Boy, I’m so pleased I made that move
Setting up was such breeze
Adding more content was so easy for me
No time-consuming back and forth
No jumping about, everything stays in place
Yes, you could say I’ve found it brilliant, hehe
I’ve got so many thoughts in my head to be seen
Flying rapidly, wanting to get onto ColourMine
Saying please hurry up, don’t forget me
From clicking all pages and add a new page
So that you have all the new additions in your range
Then add another post,
Adding poetry onto my blog oh, yes siree
No more wasting time, no mucking around,
Once there you can easily add
A paragraph, an image, a verse,
Or even a short code or search box
If you want to
There are so many options
Just have a look and see
Use the mouse, find the line, click the plus sign
Or go to the top of the page
There’s a box there,
Just click and everything is laid bare
Everything falls into place
Within an hour or maybe two
Depending on what you are intending to do
The whole page is sorted, Yoast too
Yoast being the helpful “being”
Guiding you to add other content too
Three hundred characters will do
Do you have an image, a keyword,
Tags and category
And your SEO Title has a limit
Sixty characters and they need to be specific
Amend your snippet, this is a key thing,
Your meta description will need to be
Less than 160 characters, that didn’t happen
I’d already done a few poems
I started in the thousands
What a facepalm moment for me
I had no idea there were such restrictions
That would help me to achieve
An ideal post, well, that was all on me
But now
I’ve gradually gone through and learned
Now each little bit I find to do is fun
There are lots to consider in this WordPress way
It’s not just a case of pop on your content
And away you go play
You need to make sure the backend bits
Help to make it glow
Once you are practiced on what to look out for
Then it’s so much easier
And doesn’t cause too much furore
Now please don’t believe that no-one is infallible
That is just fallacy
There are lots to look out for
Spelling, missed or wrong words
I’ve been guilty of that too
But WordPress, oh yes
WordPress makes the editing so easy to do
Go in correct and save, that’s it done
No faffing, go off and enjoy your day
Damn, I love WordPress, I’ll bet you couldn’t guess
Adding headings, subheadings,
all of the stuff on the front end,
that can be seen by you and me
Then sorting the back end,
All of the helpful stuff that can’t be seen
But makes it all smoother
Like your categories, tags,
Descriptions, all the things
For search engines that no-one sees
I have learned such a lot in this year you see
Worked my way around all the intricate things
Doing all the ColourMine, household, animal
And personal things I definitely need
A positive routine
I’ve found also, if I make a mistake,
Just go back, edit, you can do it on the fly
No panic, no massive wasted time
Celebrate with a congratulatory drink
Click on a ColourMine poem,
be prepared to let it sink in
have a read, enjoy, whilst I sip on my tea.
