Facepalm: Life is full of facepalm moments, I seem to have had a few, splintered with happiness which came in spurts – some of which I thought I’d share with you.
Facepalm Moment Walking with Trinity
It was a nice bright morning, just my two dogs, Trinity and me
Out for a walk and a chat, we did that quite regularly
I sometimes took photos
When I saw something different and unusual to me
One day I took a picture of a massive toadstool
Right next to a foot of Trinity’s
Other times it was wild flowers
That I hadn’t previously seen
Or a huge puddle where the footpath should have been
I even took a photo of the ice and the snow
When it was zero degrees or just below
I even have a close-up photo of a bird of prey
Possibly a kite, that really made my day
I had walked past;
It was sitting in the grass looking at me
Damn, it was big, and lived in the wild,
Not very far from me,
I’ve seen it hunting for food,
It has even flown over my house recently
Its wingspan is massive,
No way was I having that too close to me
I had to shoo away my dogs, they weren’t on a lead
I’ve learned that sometimes nature is a bit strange
It gives you the opportunity to create different frames
I’m hoping one day
To be able to create a video of those shots for me
Not with AI, just me and my laptop,
Now wouldn’t that be a treat
I know,
It would be so much quicker and easier
To let Copilot, Gemini, Claude or ChatGPT
Do editing, splicing or whatever for me
But I’ve already had a go and know
It’ll be fun, adding different scenes
Just because I can,
No relying on Artificial Intelligence for me
They’re good at what they do
But don’t feel like you and me,
Sometimes it has been known for me to take shots
Of horses, goats and sheep
I even had the misfortune one day
To see and capture a stillborn lamb,
That wasn’t a nice sight for me, not at 6 am
On one occasion,
I was just strolling with Trinity,
We were chatting quite happily
I was unfortunate to catch my foot
The track had a dip,
That wasn’t good for me
I rolled my ankle, then face planted
It happened super quick, that flippin’ hurt me
No, I didn’t get a photo, I wasn’t that clever,
Hehe
Neither did Trinity,
She was too concerned about me
And me, well, I told her to grab the dogs first,
Because of my moo bag
Who would take advantage
Of being off the lead,
She scouted as a hobby,
If someone appeared even in the distance
She’d be gone in a blink, no time to shout
Gave you no time to think,
She’d have been off, oh definitely
Couldn’t trust her,
She didn’t even stop to check on me
I can tell you that with total certainty
What a rotten facepalm moment that was for me
The other dog, she was beside me,
She was more worried about me.
I struggled to get up and although painful,
Trinity and I were really pleased
Me hobbling down the road, her worried about me
We got home, eventually,
She didn’t usually make a cup of tea
But she made the effort for me,
Now it’s time for another cup of tea
I shall sit on my swing sipping, and reminiscing
She was a lovely girl, my Trinity,
Perhaps her and my moo bag
Are both up there watching me, laughing,
At the antics of that bloomin’ cat of hers
He’s taking full advantage of his time training me,
She certainly set me a task when she left me,
Trying to keep him in line is like finding hens teeth,
Now I must say this is a lovely cup of tea.
