Google PageSpeed Insights – ColourMine’s Poetic Journey

ColourMine: A reminiscent journey through some last problems with ColourMine on the Squarespace platform. where I had to deep dive into Google PageSpeed Insights for some website clarity and finally started to come to the conclusion that Squarespace was not for me and it was causing me more stress because this platform did not seem to be compatible with ColourMine.

ColourMine: The Eye Opener

Google PageSpeed Insights gave a good look at solutions to problems
That I didn’t realise I’d need but I didn’t mind
And who knew that Google PageSpeed Insights would be
Such an eye opener for me
It told me everything I needed to fix on my ColourMine website
And that was no mean feat

But my sharing my poetry wasn’t going to admit defeat
And if this helps someone out there to be more website savvy than me
Someone who’s having problems with their creative website flair
Then go on, give PageSpeed Insights more than fleeting glare
Let it peer into all the nooks and crannies of your website’s stare
Then you’ll see that it’s amazing how it finds all the problems and the grinds
I was pointed this way to see if any improvements could be found
To help ColourMine that would improve your read

Of all of the poems

That were shared for me, well, what a palaver building this website has turned out to be
I think this is what they might just call website insanity
I do all this work and because it’s me everything I do is totally free
Except for the time and that’s a huge monstrosity
Having to redo things due to an imperfect font
That I added onto a photo that was taken by me
What I didn’t realise were all the things that were not good you see
Like images and fonts, basically, everything visible

And some you couldn’t see, I was so grateful to be told of these inacuracies
The accessibility, SEO and Performance it says to me
Were all good, 100% for all 3
It was all a mystery but now I’m learning quite diligently
I’m so glad I was pointed here so, I could see exactly what problems
I had caused for ColourMine and me
Some of it I understood, the website on mobile wasn’t good
The scrolling banner was slowing it down, basically, it made ColourMine frown

So, it had to go

The photos were too large, they had to go too
Basically, it seemed to me Google PageSpeed Insights was telling me
I should deconstruct my ColourMine website
For free
So, I deleted the banner and also, several pages of photos maybe 3
That technically I wouldn’t need, that left me with a single photo
For each page
At first, I got into a rage.
Why should I deconstruct my new webpage when I’d not had it that long
Oh, woe is me

It’s definitely a better neighbourhood I’m now hoping you will see
That all these changes are positive for ColourMine, you and me
I’ve since deleted several photos more and that’s quite good
Because now you see the mobile whilst not horrendous
It certainly loads immediately, I really am pleased
After all the work that has been done, it’s good to see ColourMine
Is starting to wear its crown, I’m hoping if you’re building
Your website just like me

You’ll gain confidence

And learn from my mistakes not like me, I had no idea that my vision
That I could see was actually hurting ColourMine and me,
But I’ve learned and hopefully you won’t make the same errors as me
I’m so glad you made it to here and maybe learned
That lots of problems are abound
That even with those problems I’ve found
All the guidance that was given was so good and free
Now ColourMine is better, sleeker and definitely more me

It loads faster, don’t want to be hanging around
Now everything is here to be up and strutting their stuff
Over the ground
But now it’s time for another cup of tea
Let’s enjoy all the improvements you and me
