Hair | Love & Survival | Humour Is the Game

Hair: Take it or leave it, it’s just a frame, showing off whether you’re a guy or a dame. Everything follows, enjoyment or blame, all intentions fully trained.

Hair Trim and Restyle in January 2026

Drag up a chair
We can have a cup of tea
Life can really make you smile
As you’ll find when you join me

Haven’t had my hair trimmed or styled

In quite a while
Jim died in December 2023
My income was practically non existent
That caused my frugality
You don’t get your hair cut
When your finances
Don’t allow for such things

Before Jim died
It had been about five years
Since my hair was styled or tidied
By a qualified hairdressing engineer
It was roughly trimmed in places by me
Once or twice a year
Then once he’d gone
I needed it tidied for his funeral
Professionally

Nothing fancy was done

There was no need,
It wasn’t for something fun
Since that time, it’s been wash and leave
Now it’s halfway down my back
Not far from the top of my bum crack

I decided after two years of grief
I would improve me,
Just in time for Christmas
No actual reason
Just thought how nice it would be
To get rid of all those rough ends
That made it look quite straggly

Well, appointment made

Just the weekend in front of me
Saturday café breakfast with the family
Nowhere else to go
Nothing to spoil the flow
Then springs Sunday,
Poem writing in store for me
Blow me down a surprise text message
Would you believe the luck of me
My hair appointment has been cancelled
For at least three weeks

The hairdresser’s child has contracted
Flippin’ Chicken Pox
That’s definitely bad luck for me
I won’t get chance for another month
To tame this monstrosity
So, all through Christmas it will still be
Damned untidy, like a huge bird’s nest
Oh, that’ll be attractive, I don’t think

I can tie it up out of the way

I don’t see that making a huge difference
Not to my face,
I think it’ll still look a disgrace
Maybe I’ll consider another alternative
As long as the ends are chopped off
That’ll do me

It’ll save money, and be tidy for Christmas week
That will be reasonably acceptable for me
Then when the new year comes to be
I shall be able to get it all done properly
No faffing, no germs that are awful for me
Even though they were being offered and shared
Freely
By a child of about three

Thank goodness the hairdresser

Found out early on Sunday
Or it could have been another reason
For everyone to avoid me
I would have had to miss Christmas dinner
With the family
My hair appointment had been planned for the Monday
It could have been a dose of Shingles
Over Christmas for me
Damned kids
They don’t care what they share

I’ll go make a cup of tea
And celebrate on my own this week
Not even my fantasy man will be with me
He’s obviously got someone else to do,
On the upside I suppose that’s a good thing
That the fantasy or any other man doesn’t see me,
That way they won’t want to be
An addition to my life
Of permanent enjoyment or boredom,
Depending on your perspective, hehe

I like this life, the gentle way

It has been carved out in time
Getting up whenever is good for me
By order of the cat and dog,
I can write reems of my poetry
Enjoy the freedom it all gives me
No waiting around for someone else to be free
For them to expect me to wait on them
Make them a cup of tea
Whilst they sit on their bum watching tv

I suppose occasionally
It would be nice though if someone cooked for me
But I’m quite sure I’d get quite fed up
With toast and beans
That’s probably the extent of their cooking prowess
Maybe
In the meantime, I’ll wait and see
When the hairdresser can fit me in

I’m not holding my breath

You might realise as do I
That the Chicken Pox germ
Is shared like fireworks on 4th July
Everyone in the near vicinity
Will be sharing that germ with alacrity
Including my own family
I’ll be keeping away from them
That’s a certainty

Now where’s that cup of hot tea?
I’m glad you got yourself a drink and joined me
For a ColourMine read
I expect you found there’s lots of choice
Clicking on a tag or category
You found there’s lots about my animals and me
Also, life in the Kent countryside,
Generally

I know poems are generally considered

Strange ramblings, sometimes don’t make sense
I understand, occasionally they also don’t to me
Hopefully I’ve surprised you
Since you gave me a chance
Having seen ColourMine and everything within
Poetry that is genuine, organic, no AI
Cheers and thank you
I appreciate you reading my poem during your precious time.
