Birds drinking tray | This is life, enjoying survival here

Written by Susan Lane

The Birds Drinking Tray

A dish, a tray, it’s all the same
The lady of the house pours
Water in without delay
And we’re there to say
Thank you
For this fabulous bath today
We know it’s really for drinking
But that’s ok, we’ll bath in this
And drink from the other hehe

It’s quite good here
Between you and me
A garden tray is what I mean
Like a swimming pool
Of that there’s no doubt
It’s not deep but we can
Cavort and shout about

It’s brilliant you see
For loads of my mates
To take a dip with me
The lady of the house
She too seems quite pleased
We’re fluttering about
As she can see
Because we’re having so much enjoyment
She leaves us be

We can’t do back stroke
But we’re glad when we get the chance
To enjoy our bathtime,
Courtesy
Of that nice lady, finally
She also sprinkles some food
On the garden you see
For all my mates and me
We’re so thankful that
She’s so generous to provide us
With fat balls and peanuts
For the whole gang including me

For the blue tits, gold finches
Sparrows and pidgeons too
We’re all there when she flings
Around our seed food
She flings it around
She doesn’t care
Where it lands because
She knows we’ll all be there

Observing the Birds

Then she watches us from her swing seat
Pecking around this magnificent feast
I can’t remember when I saw so much food
Oh yes, I can, what a fool
Was it only yesterday
When I came with my brood
Well, now it’s getting late
I’d best get home without delay
But don’t worry I’ll be back again
To meet up with all my friends
So, for now it’s goodnight from me
I’ll see you tomorrow for
Another bath and feed.
