ColourMine | Survival here of the Squarespace blog

ColourMine and Squarespace – my first blog

In the early days of building ColourMine, I dove headfirst into the world of Squarespace with absolutely no idea what I was doing. What followed was a tangled mess of templates, tech tantrums, and poetic facepalms. This is the story of how I wrangled my blog into existence – with a little help, a lot of tea, and more stubbornness than sense.

Well, that was a sure mistake for me
I had absolutely now idea
What I was doing you see
I’d never even seen one in action
No siree

And when I went to watch
The video on Squarespace
It wouldn’t even play for me
So, not having a clue
About what or how to do
I didn’t understand you see
That Squarespace had
A designated blog page
You just had to let it breathe

But as I said I didn’t know how
To work out this plug and play
And I couldn’t find
How to change the front picture
To one of mine
So, because that template was
Extremely confusing and not for me

I decided to skirt it and do a work around
Because I couldn’t find any instructions
There was no video as a guide
It wouldn’t play, it just decided to run and hide
I had no idea that there were loads out there
That YouTube could have been a hero to me

ColourMine and Google Search Console

And could have made this
Building of a Squarespace blog page
Such a fabulous breeze
I decided to use a blank page
That I could work with
It was so easy you see
But I didn’t realise that for
Google Search Console
That wasn’t recognised as a blog

Like a damned flippin’ angry dog
I had this huge facepalm moment
That I couldn’t believe
Whether or not I liked it
I had to use that blasted blog template
Oh, how angry that made me

Having to play with something
I couldn’t understand you see
Well, I went to the internet for help
I asked Copilot it there was a way
To do what I needed to do
And fabulously I had it told to me
In idiot mode, because that’s
What I asked for due to me

Being quite thick on this subject
And I needed it to be slowly explained
So, I could build it gradually, including
Changing that front photo, whoopee
I know it made it easier for me
And learning about this Tetris way
Of building should get easier for me

And yes, it did make it easy to get
The blog to play but it also made life
A bit too interesting on the time front hehe
It all meant I had more to do
To copy and paste from my originals
Then delete the first blog pages, phew

Blog – Disaster to Success

With all that done, I’ve got admit
It was so much easier for me
To construct each blog
And I got to know the more intricate things too
Well, all that done with this exciting
Plug and play, I should have been happy
With everything progressing
But no, not anywhere near

Because now matter what I tried to do
I couldn’t find ColourMine when I
Went on any search engine
And looked for any of my poems or blogs
That was another strike
Against Squarespace for me
Surely with this platform live
I should have been able to find
At least one of mine

I decided to crack on with
Google Search Console but also
PageSpeed Insights to see
If there was anything bad
That I was doing that would make
ColourMine invisible you see

Well, the only thing that I could find
Was the loading speed so I investigated
And found that it wasn’t due to anything
ColourMine or me
So, more investigation underway,
And more tea, hehe
