Pets: Whatever the species, they quickly train their humans to obey. Thankfully, the rewards come in the form of companionship, affection and play.
Pets – Know Your Place
The cat and the dog have nicked my place
Well, any animal owner knows that’s a damned disgrace
Obviously neither care that much about me
They don’t even care about the mess they make
With their feet
Especially the cats
When they walk out of the litter tray
After taking a pee
They wander about ignoring me
Until they decide
It’s time for some sort of feed
Then once that’s done they proceed
To get up and make themselves comfy
On my settee
It’s amazing that every day
They can be so bloomin’ selfish
Nearly tripping me over when they get in my way
When I so thoughtfully let them play
Making certain they have sufficient attention
And feed
Thank goodness I haven’t let them breed
That would be more trouble than I’d want for me
Kittens and puppies make lots of mess
Cost loads for vet’s injections,
And other stuff at the end of the day
I’d have to advertise diligently
Because their new home could be
Miles away from me
Then of course there would be
The general problems
Faced by everyone who decided to breed
The bills for everything they are going to need
More vet visits, and other health related things
They might need,
Between birth and leaving
That’s not what I need
But if any stayed,
I would need to train them to obey
And there would be food cost escalating
By at least an extra five pound each week
Depending on the size and breed
Some of course would need more
You only have to look at the size of the paws
I think the best idea for me
Is to save myself at least a grand
Stick to what I’ve got
I think that is actually the best plan
Now it’s time for tea,
Which my animals will eat quite rapidly
And of course they will swiftly abandon me
Find a comfy place and drift off to sleep
Until it’s time to accompany me
Off to bed with a goodnight cup of tea
Where I shall sleep, maybe dream of a life of fantasy
Then be woken up by a cat at half past three,
Maybe
In the meantime, join me for a ColourMine read
Not forgetting of course, your drink
