Voice: Audio typing was always the way for a boss to pass on their notes. They could record what they wanted whether in the car, on a train, in an office, at home, wherever convenient for them. This new way of working for an author could be a brilliant thing, it works along the same lines just me preparing my poems for typing, swiftly.
Voice to Text Poetry
Well, I’ve had a go,
I’m not sure it’s really for me, doing voice to text
On Word
Because it’s supposedly quicker and keeps it hands free
I have become so used to typing over the previous 30 years
It feels really strange, in some ways it makes me really angry,
It has caused delays,
It doesn’t know my language and colloquial ways
A reason I suppose could be
The loss of physical control for me
That’s not something I’ve ever experienced before you see
I suppose it could have slightly scared me
It’s not something I’m used to
Handing over my typing authority
That all said, I might try it again
It might make life easier,
Less time consuming when I have to stop typing
Lift my notepad to read, then continue
Wasting time needing to go back and find the line
The last time I used voice to text, I found,
That although it kind of kept up with me
It was slow and didn’t sound so profound
Some of the words were not correct,
They had a different meaning
It was turning into a different project
My handwritten version was not the same,
It had changed the tone and altered the frame
Although,
That could I suppose be, because of the way that I speak
It’s a good job that I always proofread and will continue to do so
Regardless of who actually types it,
Whether it’s Word or me
I do think it will be much easier for me
If I can find a way to make sure the punctuation is correct
In the voice to text,
So that I can get it done properly without delay.
And include in that foray, all the full stops and apostrophes
It’s going to take some practice to remember
Those little things, I take for granted every day.
I have always typed those things automatically
I just look, see what to type and naturally include them
If necessary
Now though, I need to think a bit more before I speak
Make sure that everything makes sense when I read
So, like I say, I think I’ll have another stab at this voice to text
Then who knows where it might lead me next
Now having just had my cup of tea,
I’d best open up Word to see just how much quicker it is
When I apply myself properly,
Wouldn’t it be fabulous if I were able to complete a poem
Whilst I’m trying to make yet another cup of tea, hehe
