Clearing & survival of outdated life debris begins

Written by Susan Lane SLCM Keeper of ColourMine

Clearing: When someone passes on there comes a time to sort through and clear out everything that you feel is not yours to keep, it has only taken me 2 years to get to that stage, I wonder how long it will take to get it done, this is just the beginning.

Clearing Through – Mental Cobwebs Too

I think it’s time
For it to be photographed and dismantled
Then either sold or given away for free
It has been there in my living room
But not for me
For about 4 years now, 2 of them unused, and empty

It was initially bought
Because he who used to live with me
Could no longer get downstairs quick enough
To use the facilities
So, with his mobility deteriorating
He decided to sleep on the settee
But that was too uncomfortable
So, he bought the bed, from someone locally

I think it’s some kind of cabin bed,

Nice and sturdy and tidy
And the mattress that came with it
Was so disgusting you see
That it was taken to the tip, asap.
That bed was set up by myself and Trinity
So that her grandad could finally
Enjoy a good night’s restful sleep, peacefully

And that bed whilst not brilliant
Because it is taking up too much space
Was very useful for him
Because it gave him a nice comfy place
For him to rest and sleep

It was sensible

For it to be kept downstairs you see
Because it was really close to the kitchen
And bathroom facilities
That sure was a bonus
Because if he was unwell in the dead of night,
I could strip and remake it without a fight

I popped everything in the machine to be washed
It was ready for drying out on the line
Not in the dryer or anything posh
The only down point with this arrangement
Was having to squidge all of the living room furniture
To fit it in but now I feel it’s time to let it go free

Maybe it could help someone else

Who might need it
Then it would free up a sizeable chunk of space
I’ve also decided to remove another piece of furniture
That now doesn’t suit this new life without him,
It takes up too much space
And just gets filled with clutter you see.
I’ve also decided to clear the porch
Of all the things that are no longer useful to me

Whether big or small, I’ve made up my mind,
I’m fed up with the clutter that I find,
Hopefully with all that surplus gone
It will be time to get myself together
And be who I feel I’m supposed to be,
Gradually clearing clutter so that eventually
I won’t feel so hemmed in and my life can then
Return to what I consider my normal reality

Clearing in the meantime,

I’m going to start filling up boxes and bags
With what I consider to be outdated bits and bobs
Then I can hopefully be on the path
To be my own new version on the hunt for my next frog
But for now, I have gotten myself a nice cup of tea
And gone for a sit on my swing
To mull over the next move for me

Hopefully I won’t run out of energy
Before I complete this mammoth task
Now it’s cheers to you,
Enjoy your read and hopefully
By either later in the year or next
There will I hope be a fabulous new me,
Whooptidee
