Taxi | This is electrical survival

Written by Susan Lane SLCM Keeper of ColourMine

Taxi: An early morning observation of an electric taxi delay

The Disappointed Electric Taxi

How unfortunate it was for the taxi man local to me
The taxi he got so he was extra green.
No diesel like the last one you see
This one is electric and works brilliantly

Except . . . for some reason today
It wasn’t charged and didn’t want to play
When taxi man wanted to leave
In the morning at 3

That was a bit disappointing for me
Because usually he’s so silent
When he leaves
But today it wasn’t to be

His taxi car alarm – it started blaring, you see

 And that’s not good
When you take into account
That everyone else was still asleep

Well, they all were, including me
I definitely wasn’t what you’d call happy
But then neither was the taxi man near me
He’d never had to miss work

In all the time he’d lived near me
And had his diesel taxi you see
Just turn the key and it fired up
Quite willingly

But not this one taxi,

It’s as dead as a dodo and now
He’s probably got to wait for recovery
Who will more than likely have

A diesel-powered generator
To charge his poor drained taxi
Just shows how green it can be
Especially when you consider it’s like

Watching grass grow for me
That poor taxi just sits idly
Blocking the road
For some of the residents I see

And my next-door neighbour

Going out early dressed all smart
Car fully loaded with cases and family
Off to the airport for their holiday
They are meant to be
As long as that taxi can be moved

Just a bit to let his car get free
They can’t miss their flight
Because of this delay
Oh, goody, goody
They’re on their way
But the taxi, even though they

Moved it a few inches

Is still staying at home today
Just goes to show
Electric really isn’t the way
For things to be

If it’s possible to find a way
To bring back the petrol and diesel
Without delay until a better way
Is found to help the eco-system

And the economy
Maybe consider getting all those
Whom have made those decisions

To get in the abandoned dinghies

And on their way to France today
With no-return and no delay
They can take their new found friends

They meet on the way
And we’ll save millions straight away
No extra building for extras you see
And our hard done by veterans

Will be able to live decently
With a proper roof over their heads
Which is better you see
Than living on the streets, yes siree.

Now I’m off for a well-deserved cup of tea

And the taxi man, well it’s been so long
That now I’ve seen he’s been able to
Move his taxi and charge it
Ready for his next shift
Well done fella,
We are so pleased
Now where is that cup of tea?
