WordPress: How one poet, three animals, and a blogging platform made a new kind of home.
Mummy Suzy and WordPress
I can’t believe it
There I was knocking on death’s door
Could barely get up off the floor
ColourMine was on Squarespace
Then she decided out of the blue
It would be better to be
At a different venue
Written up on WordPress
Is now where we are meant to be
And I’ve got to agree
We are so much happier
That other cat, the dog and me
And did I ever tell you
This is something on which
The others and me all agree
We absolutely love living here
With mummy Suzy for free
She doesn’t charge us you see
Not for food, water, litter, wipes
Or anything else that we might need
Must be because
She’s our servant you see
What a fantastic existence it is
For us animals here
It doesn’t matter how much
Mess we make
Or even what time of year
And even though she occasionally
Shouts and raves
Then in a moment she might
When she doesn’t think we see
Grab a glass of cold Asti
She likes that you know
But she also likes a nice cup of tea
She doesn’t share that with any of us
Oh no siree
Not even a saucer of tea
Maybe we’ll celebrate one day
That will be good to see
Possibly when she gets
Mess we make
Or even what time of year
And even though she occasionally
Shouts and raves
Then in a moment she might
When she doesn’t think we see
Grab a glass of cold Asti
She likes that you know
But she also likes a nice cup of tea
She doesn’t share that with any of us
Oh no siree
Not even a saucer of tea
Maybe we’ll celebrate one day
That will be good to see
Possibly when she gets
One million followers
And maybe a book deal
Well, I know that could be unlikely
But you never know
We sit and wait
Maybe there will even be a show
Just like that female poet
In the 1970s, so long ago
Pam Ayres that was
Full of all kinds of poetic ditties
Funny lady she came to be
No matter what the subject was
She always came out with
Some kind of verse full of hilarity
She amused Suzy you see
I think she was about ten
When she first saw Pam on the TV
That lady made her sit and laugh
Although my mummy didn’t
At that time seem to be
Aspiring to be a poet
That wasn’t deemed to be
A reasonable career, unfortunately
But now that Suzy has realised
That’s not shame
It’s pride and enjoyment
Just another way to frame a game
So, now having had to deal with me
She writes everything down
Because you never know
How everything is going to be
Or even what cards
You are going to be dealt
Oh, no siree
So, let’s enjoy what we have
And if there’s anymore,
We will be so glad
And for now, let’s play the game
We’ll enjoy everything frame by frame
And whilst she has a cuppa
We’ll make all kinds of mess
And consistently call her name
We’ll teach her who is in charge
Of what’s on the cards
WordPress, so, now you see
That WordPress has also inspired me
It has given me the zest to live
To irritate everyone like a div
But I’ve got to say,
And you’ll probably know this anyway
WordPress is so captivating everyday
Let’s enjoy what comes our way
