Squarespace | This is depths, discovery and survival here

Upgrading My Squarespace Blog Page

Following on from my last blog about the trials and triumphs of building ColourMine, this piece dives deeper into the tangled web of Squarespace setup. Written during the thick of it (and now reflecting from the calmer shores of hindsight), it captures the chaos, confusion, and occasional comedy of trying to make a website behave. If you’ve ever felt like your layout was plotting against you, or your internal links were playing hide-and-seek, this one’s for you.

This webpage building was proving to be
Lots more difficult on occasions for me
It was meant to be easy, just slot everything in
But that’s not actually the case
And several times
I came close to throwing the whole computer
In the bin

I first learned WordPress
Which is a whole different way
To build everything, it wasn’t plug and play
But this Squarespace
It’s so different now you see and
It’s definitely terrifyingly difficult for me

No-one ever spoke of the things
You needed to find
Like all the different pages and internal links,
I didn’t even know there were back links
Elements and such like

So much to learn and
Thank goodness
It doesn’t have to be
Done in one night
And that’s good for me
Or I’d probably take flight

With this new way of learning
I was hoping to soon be
Some kind of Squarespace whizz
Such an exciting prospect for me
It’s always good if its computer based
I love that, especially if it’s at your own pace

I thought it would be like a lazy game
But it’s more like fighting a tornado with a flame
Just when you think you’re nearly done
Zoom you’re on the back foot
It’s not as easy as this should be
Or so it seems,
But maybe it is for everyone,
But me

Squarespace and ColourMine

So, this whole ColourMine building
Has been exasperating for me
But it started to come together
It was lovely to see
And I hope you’ve found it easier than me
I would have been glad of any tips
That you could’ve told me
But I don’t need it now
Because I’ve moved you see

I was trying to find a way
For you to transverse ColourMine easily
Even if that meant accepting help and advice
From anyone more knowledgeable than me,
I was even thanking in advance
For any help you could’ve given me,
Because it wasn’t very easy
When there was only me and my ingenuity

So, thank you once again from ColourMine and me
We are extremely grateful and we’ll see
You on the next blog
Tata, goodbye and next time you’ll probably see
Yet another facepalm blog moment from me . . .
