ColourMine | This is wrestling & survival | Squarespace here

ColourMine Begins a New Day with a Cup of Tea Courtesy of De’Longhi

A rainy morning, a cup of tea, and a quiet resolve to shape ColourMine into something more intuitive. This blog poem captures a moment of creative recalibration from my early days on Squarespace—when I was still navigating the nooks and crannies of an unforgiving platform, wrestling with drag-and-drop quirks and the endless search for hidden elements and elusive niceties in unfamiliar territory.

Woke up at 3.30 am today
With my poems on my mind
And all the things I want to say
Before I got into life’s foray

I also needed to do
What comes naturally to me and you
And yes, I know, that’s just too much
Personal information for thee
And the good news, the sky was crying,
It was raining you see

That brought the temperature down
From 20 to a more manageable 13 degrees C
I was glad, it was so nice but
Just a prelude to it being like a furnace
So hot you see,
In the region of about 26 degrees or more
It’s going to be

But sitting here with a cup of tea,
Courtesy of my kettle, De’Longhi
With Sid the dishwasher whirring around,
A nice gentle background sound
I’m slowly considering what I should do,
My whole day really needs thinking through
I’ll pop on my blog at the start of the day,
Green kitchen appliance items (including De'Longhi kettle) with white writing depicting ColourMine information and copyright "© Susan Lane 2025"

Night-time Considerations

I had considered night
Whilst I was hitting the hay
I’d mow the lawn first thing today
But now that’s not possible for me
Because of the rain
So, I’ll leave it because that would be
Stupid and dangerous you see.

In the meantime, I know what I shall do,
I’ll tweak ColourMine to improve it for you
Whilst I quench my thirst with a drop of tea
Then maybe I’ll try to sort out
The help you might need

To enable you to find anything
That will save more time for you to read
Instead of you having to look through
I thought maybe you’d like
A new query the box for you,

Upgrading ColourMine for You

A box with the spy glass so you can find
A category or poem within ColourMine,
This way you definitely know
I’m looking for ways to improve things for you
Then hopefully you’ll find
How easily you can travel gracefully
Around and through ColourMine
Whooptido

Once that’s done, I think I’ll spend some time for me,
I’ll copy type all my poems so they’re ready you see
Then pop them on ColourMine for you all to read
Hopefully with a reasonable typing speed
Of between 50 and 80 wpm I’ll be pleased
Then it shouldn’t be long until I succeed.

If I have anything more of this to do
Then I shall be very pleased
Other than that, maybe
The day will be done and
Quite likely you’ll eventually see
More musing and poems from me

And now, yes, you’ve guessed it,
Time to join me for yet another cup of tea, . . .
But just quick before I go, click on
Blog
Then you’ll have something more to read
And maybe again later with your beer, hehe
