ColourMine here, this is website woes, survival and sass

ColourMine – Definitely Poetry!

This poem is a little back story about my website building journey

Frustration upon frustration, oh, what I did I do
I did everything right, even though I didn’t have a clue
It got so bad I consulted a higher authority than me
On how to get around lots of Squarespace’s anomalies

I watched YouTube videos endlessly they explained a whole lot to me
However, once the site was done and it went live for everyone to see
That’s when the real fun began because it just didn’t jive
Not even close because unbeknown to me
ColourMine was attached to a demo site you see

So, when I check Google Analytics to find what was happening
On ColourMine daily it was throwing all kinds of wrong
Analytical information at me, it took a couple of days
Then what did I find, a minor glitch, www. had gotten left behind

It didn’t matter what ever I did and any corrective information
Wasn’t on a YouTube vid, I checked on Google Search Console
To see if that would help me but apparently ColourMine
Was on a redirect, so back to the drawing board for me

I tried loads and none of it worked but it did give me chance
To get to used to Squarespace quirks but eventually I had to admit defeat
I contacted Squarespace directly for them to add the www. manually
Once that was done, I checked again

ColourMine – One Problem Sorted More to Come

I went to Google Search Console and once again did a live URL test
It had actually worked you see but still needed more time to play
There was another problem, oh, bother me
How could I get it to show only my poetry platform
With all my poems for you to read

I found out eventually that colourmine had to be
Classed as my favourite you see, so, another sitemap for me
Which showed up something else but this was my fault
Unfortunately, during my research I was disappointed to find
There were several other platforms called ColourMine

I know this should have been one of my first priorities
To check out any problems and inconsistencies
But I was so excited to be finally,
Getting my website together so all the research totally skipped me

Yes, I was a fool, so better late than never
I stopped being a complete tool and because obviously,
This was “learning on the job” for free, I’d had this fabulous idea
I steamed on ahead just to be pleased, I was now

Out in the big wide world sharing my poems with you, you see
With no regard to be worried about whether
How many ColourMine’s were there to be seen
That was a definite facepalm moment for me

Rectifying My Blunder

But true to the luck I was having so far, this poetry journey
Having my own website was seeming a bit blah,
With trying to clarify my poems and me were associated
With the platform ColourMine, definitely lots more hard work
Than I first visualised, believe me

Then to top it off in my haste I had stupidly included “Poetry”
To everything I could see from logo to SEO site titles
Meta text, wherever I could, how was I to know it was like
ColourMine was wearing a hood

Now it’s all sorted and ColourMine is finally me
There is a clear statement saying this site ColourMine
Is about poems that are original and written by me
Although unfortunately, it looks like I got in a muddle
In some places confusion reigned for me

So, I’m sorting everything slowly, gradually
Adding more poems for you to read, I apologise profusely
If you got caught in this tangle with me
Hopefully, this madness will be completely sorted very shortly

Thank you for sticking with ColourMine, my poems, and me
Now come join me and AssTea, let’s have a cup of tea
