ColourMine | This is inspiration, detours, love & arrival

Written by Susan Lane

Reminiscing on dreams and quiet aspirations, this piece traces the tender shift between life before and after a certain poet appeared on television—an unexpected moment that quietly stirred something in a young child. What began as admiration bloomed into inspiration, and eventually, a poetic journey that would shape ColourMine itself.

ColourMine – Poet in the Making

In all my wildest fantasies I didn’t ever dream
Of all this, being able to craft on lots of things
And with life ever changing for me
I didn’t think computer life would really stalk me

Everything that brought me to here
ColourMine was just an idea
But it wasn’t my initial thought, nowhere near
All I considered just for me
Was writing loads of my poetry

And even that wasn’t my first thought you see
Because I hadn’t even written a verse,
When it came to me
I was just musing one day,
I’d heard a poet having her say

My Inspiration

She was on the tele, what a fabulous day
I thought how brilliant she was
With all her verse and how she said everything
She was so eloquent, I didn’t ever think
Back in the day
Wow, that could be me but

Way back then she was a household name
Headed for stardom,
I’ve no idea if that was her aim
But very quietly she inspired me
Although it wasn’t for years
That I eventually wrote any poetry

I suppose she was my quiet hero
And so, diligently
I stored up all of my memories
She shew me all that time ago
It didn’t matter what you know

What the subject was or what it was called
Whether it was full of life
Or maybe bald
It was just about the sentiment you see
The truth and your words
With brilliance or finality

The ColourMine Cauldron

So, all that festered inside of me
Just like a yearning cauldron
Of everything ColourMine me
Then wouldn’t you know eventually
The idea of ColourMine set it all free

It’s all here now for everyone to see and read
Each morning, I get up, we breakfast, toilet
Then I have my first cup of tea,
I pick up my notepad and pen
I get ready

Because it all starts to flow very gently
Quite insistently,
All these poems flow from me
I never wanted you see to be a poet
Who can write poems about life
No, that wasn’t me

All I ever wanted from a young child was to be
Some kind of office secretary
That’s a long way from an author
Or poet I’d agree
But I suppose all that extra learning
Has been good for me

From Mystery to Muse

Because I get to transcribe all my poems for free
And the poet who inspired me
Way back in the day
Well, maybe I’ll tell you but not here
And not today

Although you can speculate
And pass your thoughts this way
I shall be pleased and absolutely amazed
If you get who it is right away
