Write | This is love, disaster, survival

Do You Want to Write?

Write: From disaster through recovery, and changes to me personally, the feelings have come out through my poetry. I’m hoping that you can see every path has a light that leads you to something brighter if you just give it a chance

Write From Disaster

There I was having had a full term still birth,
That was supposed to be my child number three
But that didn’t happen, unfortunately
Eventually I found the words

Many moons after but did it really help
Well, maybe a smidge but It was really difficult
To process everything
That had happened to me you see

Well, that event was in 2001
The poem was still running around
It hadn’t even gotten to my tongue
Then all of a sudden, I let it burst free

Slow Recovery

It finally aired in 2015
“My Handsome Stranger” flew from me
With all of the feelings but unfortunately
No heartbeat

I suppose I must have felt guilty
Because I hadn’t planned him, no siree
But then what about my other two children
How were they different from number three

They weren’t planned either you see
So, I’m wondering what was so different
With number three and me
I still don’t know and it will probably be

Eternally, one of life’s mysteries
That will never be revealed to me
So, then to the poems,
The first in 2015

The Dam Burst

Then nothing more from me
Until ten years later
When all of a sudden
They came bursting out of me

One book then two, three and four
Plus, ColourMine on the internet
Slowly opening doors
Then came the sharing for me

First one poem onto Instagram
Called “The Empty Pen”
Then nothing shared until I felt it time
To let my poems be seen

By everyman and his dog
On Facebook, via my friends
Then I decided to change my privacy
Just on my poems

So that you could all read
My different poems about all kinds of things
A few weeks later I decided
To let them be seen by more people

Sharing to LinkedIn

So, onto LinkedIn I ventured
That was a huge decision for me
Because I didn’t even know
If I actually like that platform you see

Whenever I visit LinkedIn, it always seems to me
A very strange platform
That gives the appearance of being there to help
People get employment

With advice and contacts
But apparently that’s not the case
According to lots of posts that say
There are better places to share your resumes

Your life stories, to help you be seen
And LinkedIn, well, that platform seems to be
Just for backslapping and shoulder scratching
So, I came to the conclusion that if LinkedIn

Is LinkedIn Suitable for Me

Is just for sharing course and information
Then maybe it is the place for me
Share my poems which encourage you
To be your own person

Write down your dreams
To fly in the face of uncertainty
Then maybe someone of influence
Might just see

That instead of a boring interview
Which if you’re coached properly
Can get you the job
Even with your lack of capability

They also can then help you wing it
Through your three-month trial period
Then you’re there indefinitely
And can lean on others to help you

To do everything specified
In your job description
Even if you aren’t and have never been
Fully capable you see. instead of that

Showing Your Strengths – Write

You could show your full diversity
Something that will make your shine
And explain more fully
About you and your work ethic

Your staying power, life decisions
Capability of mind
And whether you can
Start a project and follow it through

Making it talk and sing for you
Now, even with dyslexia there is no reason
To be shy of showing your extensive personality
Nowadays, it’s so much easier to see your ability

Because if your head is full of ideas
And you want to be a writer
Then there are different things
That can help you be seen

Remember, They Are Just Tools

Like Copilot, ChatGPT, Quillbot and Grammarly
If you use them then you will certainly be
Able to improve and expand your capabilities
Into something that others will want to see and read

Because not every writer is a professor
Or have the capability
Of writing a scientific thesis
When they begin, and lots of them

Even with those qualifications some still use a typist
To help with getting their ideas down on paper
Or saving to hard disk, cloud or flash drive
Because their handwriting is so atrocious

And the struggle reading it would create a great divide
Their typing speed is negligible
So, it would probably be ready
Sometime in the next century

You Can’t Be Too Careful

So, wherever your starting point
Don’t be embarrassed
Just have a go and see
As long as everything is legible

To you and me
Write something amazing
Share it everywhere
But if it’s for a book or a magazine

The thing that is most important
Is to pop it through Copyleaks
So, you can be certain that
You don’t be daft and plagiarise anything

It checks billions of writings across the board
Just to see if what you write is truly yours
Then you are less likely you see
To be in the crapper

For stealing something written
By someone else previously
Even if it was something
Written in the last century or last week

You may have remembered and accidentally
Wrote it out and thought it was yours genuinely
So, good luck I wish to you and congratulations
In advance for everything you choose to do.

Writing is Everywhere

Just remember that not everything
That is written is a book,
a poem or an article in a magazine
Some writings are just reports

For your job or company
But still, everything needs to be
Completely legible for us to understand and read
Now I think it’s time I went and grabbed
A nice hot cup of decaffeinated tea.
