The Electric Kettle’s Moment in the Spotlight
Kettle: The newest addition to the ColourMine kitchen makes new friends, imparting gossip on the way.
The Replacement Kettle
Well out with the Swan,
He was broken you see
He was the immediate predecessor
Just before me
There have been quite a few over time
But his space on the worktop
Is now mine
Although the lady of the house
Couldn’t really afford me
She thought I’d look nice,
In her kitchen of green and cream
I look very good you see
Because the kitchen matches me
De’Longhi’s the name,
And I’ve got pride of place
Kettle Displeasure
There’s only one down point
I’ve found to date
The orange cat,
He’s such a disgrace,
He wanders along my worktop space
I don’t see why because
He’s got his own area
Of the worktop you see
Because that’s where he’s chosen to eat
The lady of the house again tells him no
He still walks alongside me
To see if he can dull my glow
The lady of the house is in the other room
She seems to know
And is up and here, zoom
She’s up, like a shot to tell him “Get off”
He just looks at her and wanders off
But back to me in my “pride of place”
Puts the cups in the spare space
She flicks me on to make a nice brew
I’m definitely part of her inspiration crew
To write in her own fashion
Her poetry that’s original and true
It’s always nice to see
The lady of the house
With a nice hot cup of tea
I’m quite chuffed she bought me
I really fit in quite nicely
Everything seems to be
Either cream or green
Well, except the microwave,
He’s white not any kind of green
Times Gone By
Although his predecessor
Was a nice light green
He was part of the “Jeff Banks” scene
“Ports of Call” was his design name
He was really good,
When the lady of the house
Purchased him way back in the day
She could have had a nice light blue
But that wouldn’t do,
Not with a kitchen cream and green.
He was brand new, digital and
Definitely caused quite a scene
So, the others were telling me
He looked quite fabulous don’t you know
Still looking good at 30 years old
When he had to go
It’s such a shame the lady of the house
Can’t get another one that’s green
It would definitely fit in so much better
With the rest of us,
We’re all agreed
But maybe one day,
She’ll see the one
And we’ll sit and celebrate
With another cup of tea
We’re all one big fabulous family
