The Outside Tap Cover
Tap Cover: Life in the winter countryside can be harsh with north winds fast approaching and beasties diving for cover under any suitable roof that they find that will keep them warm and dry.
The Hunt for the Cover is On
I know I had one,
Possibly two or three
I checked in the kitchen,
The shed
And even the conservatory
I know I could lose one
But definitely not three
So, the man of the house
Must have filed it under
Don’t forget where it is
Because it’s useful to me
The Screwdriver Goldmine
That means it’s lost in the annals of time
I’ll be extremely lucky
If that I ever get to find
A load of screwdrivers I have found
All in sets except the one
That has gone to ground
Maybe I can make one complete set
Out of all these
I’ll obviously have some spares
But that’s alright with me
But for now, I’ll keep looking
For that blasted tap cover that’s eluding me
Dog Coat Repurposing
And in the meantime,
I’ll do the sensible thing
I’ll use the spare dog coat;
That’ll be good enough for me
It’ll do the job you see
Keeping the frost
Off of the outside tap for me
And over winter
There will possibly be a friend
Come visit the animals and me
Although I think I’ll avoid it
Because it’ll be massive
Big and brown
And very hairy
With extremely long legs
That’ll make me frown
The Chase is On
It’ll run when it’s seen
Whether it’s a predator or me
Even when they get old
They are still quite bold
But even they don’t like the cold
Not here in the country
Good job for me,
I won’t need
To use that tap over winter
Oh no siree
The proper tap cover
Would be brilliant you see
The hairy ones don’t like that
Because they can’t get in
To make themselves comfy
And get in a spin
Mulling Over the End of the Day
Now it’s time for a cuppa you see
Then I can peruse
What else can amuse me
Whilst I sit on the swing
Sipping my cup of tea
