ColourMine Explanation of the ColourMine Poetic Residents
This poem introduces a variety of characters who reside at the ColourMine residence – some inside, some out, all part of the everyday chaos and charm. Among the laughter and garden clippings, I’ve also touched on grief, because it’s part of who I now am.
The photo at the end is of my granddaughter Trinity, who passed away recently. It was taken during a winter moment of silliness, one she swore no one would ever see. But now, it feels right to share it – because it captures her spirit, and because remembering her is part of this poetic journey too.
Life is beginning to be quite grand
And ColourMine is starting to make a stand
So many poems have gone before
And there are even more in store
It’s so good that they’re all there
Waiting patiently to be typed and shared
Poems from all different genres you’ll see
And you will even get the chance to read
There are lots of them you see
And I’ve separated them into
Different categories
Some are boring, yes, I know,
Who would want to read about
How much a flippin’ hedge grows,
And then have someone like me
Cut it down to size fairly swiftly
Then there’s the fridge and freezer too
OMG I know it’s a stupid a thing
But what we really do need,
Is, some humour and hilarity
ColourMine – Phases of Emotion
Cos if you don’t laugh then you cry
Then you’re avoiding that eternal phrase
“Goodbye”
Following that there’s the animals,
Birds and bugs too
All with their antics, some of which
Are accumulated here for you
The main one for me is that bloomin’
Orange cat and his life of riley
Where he plays and bullies
His living companion incessantly
There is a dog, a cat, and slow worms too
With massive spiders playing peek-a-boo
It’s all excitement you see
Using this end of the summer season
To get ready for winter time, including me
The last cut of the year will soon be here
Maybe in a month or two,
Between now and then there’s lots to do
All the last-minute tidying in the garden for me
And lots of ColourMine tweaking
To enable you to read
All about things in my life
That you might experience similarly
Once all that is done
Then I’ll probably bring to you,
Many adventurous
Trials and tribulations
And lessons learned by me
Regarding more adventures throughout
My website building each week
ColourMine Touching on Grief
Then, when I’m ready I will bring to you
More of my poetry that includes
My personal feelings of grief
And how I cope with that aftermath each week
The pain endured each day, week and month too
Just because they’re not here for you to see
Life doesn’t stand still when they leave
Everything continues to be
Like a rollercoaster
Where the emotions fly free
So, when it’s time I’ll bring to you
My take on the grieving process for me
How appearing to be so normal to everyone
Around is so easy
But you’re really hiding all that grief
Behind a curtain of miserable secrecy
And how do I cope with all this I hear you say
Well, I write all the different poems every day
Then I upload them gradually for you
To show that although you may be lonely
There are ways to improve your view
Well, now it’s time for me to go
Grab a cup of tea
And type up this poem for you to read
And maybe you too might find an outlet to write
About your feelings of anger, and laughter too
The frustration and even the daft things
They used to do in front of you
When in your mind’s eye you smile
And remember, like me,
A stupid happening that still lingers
Through the steam, as you sip
That soothing cup of tea
Farewell
So, farewell I’ll catch up with you soon
Then you can enjoy another dawn with me
I shall be sitting with my pussy and a brew
Hopefully avoiding further problems
Whilst walking in the morning dew.
